I resent them even more because now, sport seats can't be optioned unless I get the M-sport package.Latest Update : BMW recently launched the facelifted 2022 X3 in the Indian market and it comes with numerous updates to its design, interior, powertrain and safety. I loved all of those M-sport body kits…I can't stand these FXX M-sport designs. The difference here is that the M-sport packages of the EXX cars and earlier looked similar or were exactly the same as the M-model variants, which have always been spot-on. Cars with the worst: 3-series GT, F15 X5, and LCI X3 and X4. The cars with the best execution of M-sport bumper design: 7-series, 5-series GT, 4-series, 2-series. The M-sport on the pre-LCI X3 was already ricer-y enough…this new one looks downright stupid. Other times, the M-sport package makes an otherwise well sorted exterior design look silly-sort of aftermarket and, at worst, lumpy. ![]() Sometimes, the designs are classy and understated. The X3 though is not a sports car and BMW have setup the sports suspension on it sensibly.īMW's M-sport packages as of late have been really hit or miss. The sports suspension on the X3 seems well judged to me, unlike my previous car which was a 335i, the sports suspension on that was just way to hard and had the car being deflected all over the place on UK B-roads. What I found was that the standard suspension bounced too much and wasn't sufficiently controlled for my taste. It might seem counter-intuitive that the harder suspension rides better (on UK roads too). Re sport suspension I retained it on my 30D as I find the ride better than with standard suspension. The body kit is the main offender, the other items such as sport wheel, larger alloys, sports seats are probably what many want. I agree that the spec includes items that pimp up the looks somewhat. I note that most UK users delete Sports Suspension on their cars, because the roads are poor in some area. ![]() Nothing wrong with paying for 'better' looks- that's marketing. You are buying a look- not much in terms of engineering. Throw in some extra satin trim (or fashionable black trim), larger alloys, body kit etc. Seems to me that x-line and M-Sport are mostly cosmetic updates.īMW like most manufacturers make more profit on the 'pimped' up cars. This is far from MSport cars pretending to be M cars. I'm not aware that MSport has ever included any engine upgrades. Also in the vast majority of cases MSport include sports suspension so there is some handling difference vs standard spec. An MSport is a sports spec including many of the options a sports oriented driver is likely to want, this makes ordering easier (and money for BMW). Quite how an SAV/SUV would fit this category is beyond me but something like an X5M sells cars I suppose. M cars are more out and out genuine sports cars that are at home on the track on track days. The distinction between MSport and M cars has been very obvious at least in European markets for decades. Secondly, does the US have a long history of MSport versions of BMWs being available? Certainly in Europe we've had MSport versions for decades - no one confuses them for M-cars, indeed an M version of an SUV/SAV seems like an oxymoron anyway, it should only apply to cars that are close to being track racers, not cars with a high CoG. With the X3 I can understand that part of it is due to the MSport not coming with sport suspension whereas it does across most of the planet. I've genuinely wondered about the anti-MSport sentiments in the US.

What Should You Know About Tinting Your Car Windows? With a wide range of tint films in the market, how does one go about selecting the “right” one? Here’s a guide to help you choose the right solar car window tint according to your needs. A window tint not only provides privacy when you’re in your vehicle, but also protects you from glare, heat, and harmful UV rays. As such, you may not recoup what you paid for the service when it comes time to sell.Car window tints are no longer seen as an aesthetic accessory, but a necessary one, especially in Malaysia’s hot climate. Coupe buyers may appreciate tinted windows, while sedan or SUV drivers may not. If you are reselling your car after tinting your windows, keep in mind that it could impact resale value. If you are interested in tinting your windows, whether it’s simply for aesthetics or to protect your interior, it is legal as long as you follow your state’s laws. It’s a common misconception that window tinting is illegal. This isn’t one of those expenses you want to revisit every year. Some window tint films offer a lifetime warranty, while others have a shorter warranty term. Remember, find a reputable tint shop that offers a decent warranty for their window tinting services. Coupes have large slanted back windows, which make them more expensive than sedans and are generally $200-$600. ![]() The range for these vehicles are $250-$750. SUVs and minivans are the most expensive due to their number of windows and window height. Trucks have fewer windows, so they are slightly cheaper at an average of $350. ![]() For high-performance ceramic or metallic film, it can cost upwards of $800. There are several brands and types of tint which can also affect window tinting prices, but the average tinting for a passenger car is in the range of $250 to $600 for standard, non-reflective film. Ceramic films are also shatter-proof and don’t require as dark of a tint as other types. ![]() High-quality ceramic window tints reduce a vehicle’s internal temperature by around half. Because ceramic particles have strong heat rejection properties, they provide the same level of sunlight reflection while also adding insulation. This quality comes at a cost, as ceramic window tints are the most expensive. Tints can be applied at home, but professional application is recommended.Ĭeramic tint is the most effective of all window tint types and blocks more than 99 percent of UV rays. Local laws can also include how many inches of the windshield can legally be tinted. These window tint laws include the percentage of light allowed in, which is also known as Visible Light Transmission. That’s why each state has different laws that dictate how much tinting is allowed on each window. If a window tint is too dark, it can hinder visibility, particularly at night. The thickness of the window tint and the material varies. If any of the above benefits of window tinting have piqued your interest, here’s a look at what it costs to tint your car’s windows and what options are available.Ĭar window tinting is the procedure that adds a tinted transparent film or coating to the inside of a car’s windows. There are many types of window tint available, and with varying material types, the cost can vary widely.
